Originally from Lucca, he probably studied in Domenico GhirlandaioÆs workshop in Florence, judging by his earliest work, an \i Adoration of the Shepherds\i0 signed and dated 1519. Subsequently he went to Rome to study the work of\b \cf4 \ATXht1201 Raphael\b0 \cf0 \ATXht0 . Around 1520 he settled in Lucca. His works include the \i Virgin and Child with the Young Saint John\i0 in the Berlin Museum, the \i Portrait of a Musician\i0 in the MusΘe du Louvre and \i Christ Crowned with Thorns
\i0 in the MusΘe de Montpellier. Other paintings by the artist can be seen in the Pinacoteca di Lucca.
